Baby Brain!?!

I have herd others talk of it, but I can not find a definition of this problem online. I am pretty sure the following would be a prime example of "Baby Brain" though, let me know what you think.

Today I took my Mother her birthday present and had flowers delivered to her at work for her birthday, guess what...her birthday is JULY 30TH!!

Sorry Mom, I don't know what I was thinking, hope you enjoyed your flowers anyway!

Tonight Donna, Ted, Lee Ann and Kevin came over for some drinks around the campfire. Thanks for joining us for the evening. We had a great night, can't wait to do it again!

Larry's Surgery...Finally!

Larry has been waiting to go for surgery on his shoulder since November...of 2005! Today was finally the day! The surgery was long but it went well and hopefully everything will heal good and he won't have any pain anymore. Right now he is sleeping so I am catching up on some of the blogs I have been neglecting, boy do I have a lot of catching up to do!

When we were up visiting Lisa & Jeff we did a little shopping here is what we found to put away for "Maggie"

Ladies & Gentlemen…start your VACATION!!!

Today is the beginning of my vacation, yeah!! It is another beautiful day and it is looking good, weather wise, for the rest of the week! Today was a major yard work day. Larry mowed and then gave the new wipper snipper a workout while I finally finished repotting all of my flower plants.
As the day wore on it got hotter and hotter so Larry and I took a swim in the pool and cleaned it. Ahhh…the temperature of the water was cool getting in but it felt great after working around the yard all day. After supper Larry and I had another bonfire and relaxed.

Oh and I found the most delicious sounding recipe tonight, I am going to make it later in the week, I will let you know how it turns out. ;-) It is called...Pina Colada Cups, yummy!

"Larry's New Toy"

Larry and I went to visit Lisa, Jeff and the kids today. We have been inquiring about a new addition to our property maintenance tool collection, a STIHL whipper snipper. Lisa's father has a shop where he sells these products so we have put our needs in Jeff's (he works at the shop) trusty hands and he has found us the perfect trimmer.
Our old whipper snipper was very annoying because you would just get started with it and it would shut it's self off, multiple times while you were using it, and it was a struggle to restart it every time.

It was a beautiful day so I sat on the deck with Lisa and enjoyed some sun. Larry had a blast playing with the kids all afternoon. Here are some pictures from our visit:

One of my favorite summertime activities is sitting around a campfire on a nice evening, so tonight was our first of the season. Lee Ann came over to pick up some decorating material for her daughters' prom this evening and stayed and enjoyed the campfire with us. Thanks for dropping by Lee Ann, we enjoyed your company!

Sunny Days and Father’s Day

Yesterday my Mom, Stepfather, Larry and I all went out for Father’s Day supper. Anyone that knows me, can attest to my love of desserts, so after supper my Mom and I ordered a dessert called…Monkey’s Uncle*, one word...SCRUMPTOUS!!!
*Monkey’s Uncle – Caramelized bananas topped with soft ice cream and a cherry…Yummy!!

Today was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for yard work, so that is what we did. Larry mowed the lawn and cleaned the pool. I cleaned my small gardens and planted new flowers. Then we had a BBQ and relaxed! Ahhhh…my kind of day!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the Dad’s and the Daddy’s-to-be, I hope you all had a great day!

Larry - soon you will be sharing this special day with your little girl, I know you can’t wait. In the meantime here are your fur-babies sending you lots of love! xoxoxoxo

Busy Week…time to breathe

Just wanted to let Lisa and Jeff know I am still thinking of them and their family. Their little girl, Kealey (in picture), had to be rushed to the IWK hospital last weekend; thankfully she is doing better now. I was really scared when I first found out though, thanks Jeff!

Thursday Larry was at Home Hardware all day fundraising and after work I went and relieved him. We did better than we both expected. I love being able to get out there and talk to people and answer their questions, as long as they are not totally ridiculous! We had a very good day and received lots of well wishes. Thanks to everyone that stopped by and supported us! Here I am, waiting for my next customer, lol!

Last night we went to Mandy’s 30th birthday party. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANDY!! We had lots of laughs and a good time. Here are some pictures from the evening. The only problem with the evening was the un-invited guests…June Bugs!!
I don’t think this needs any explanation but let me just say, I HATE bugs…especially in JUNE!!

Last Friday Larry and I went shopping in Halifax, here is my favourite purchase of the day…

Check out the ladybug embroidery!

I can’t wait to see “Maggie” wearing this!!

Ok now that the week is over let’s enjoy the weekend! Yeah!

I Love Hand Me Down's

A couple day ago Doris posted about some of the items she has kept from her childhood to pass on to her daughter. I thought I would post about a few of the items I have saved to pass on. I have quite a few items that Sydney, my niece, used; assorted toys & clothes. One thing that I love and have kept of hers is this Christmas dress:
I also have a few old quilts, handmade by my grandmother and a Winnie the Pooh sleeping bag I used as a child.

Here is my Nannie’s handy work close up:

(Click on them to make them larger.)

My most cherished hand me down item I have is this blue, wool, fur-trimmed dress. I have old pictures of my Mother wearing this dress when she was young. I also have pictures of myself in it when I was little, so I can’t wait to see “Maggie” in this dress too!
(Please excuse the wrinkles, this has been packed away a LONG tome, lol)

I could not post about all the hand me down stuff because there is just too much; I guess this is the benefit of being a third generation...

Thoughts

~ “Sometimes you plan things and they don’t go as you expected, the outcome then depends on how you deal with the situation at hand” ~

Our girls (+ 2 guys) lunch out was very nice. It was great to catch up with Nancy, hope we can get together again soon. Here is a picture of us all gathered for lunch.

I am so amazed and inspired by many of the bloggers that I follow. There are so many of you out there that express your feelings and thoughts so vividly. Some days you write exactly how I am feeling.

I sometimes feel like this blogging thing is very weird. We are all opening up very private parts of ourselves and sharing them with the world. When I sit and think about it, it kinda’ scares me, but then I think back to when we first started the process of our adoption and I remember how reassuring, helpful, and encouraging it was to read the blogs of people who had been there done that (BTDT) or people who were/are in the process.

I am so thankful that all of those families listed on the right hand side of my blog had the courage to express themselves so openly on their blogs.

I don’t know how helpful or informative my blog is but I hope that someday it helps to reassure someone out there that they are not alone in this journey of adoption and that some day we will all finally have our happy ending…a FOREVER FAMILY!

Lunch Anticipation/Baby Equipment

I am looking forward to lunch time tomorrow…yes I love food, but even better…my co-worker that left almost a year ago is coming out to lunch with all of us girls she used to work with! I can’t wait to see her and get chance to catch up, she doesn’t live that far away we just never take the time to get together…you know how it is. We are extending our lunch an extra half hour so we can have some extra time and not have to rush…YAHOO!! I can’t wait, see you tomorrow Nancy!!

I also thought about something I was supposed to post a long time ago, our new baby “equipment”. A lot of you know that we have purchased a car seat for “Maggie” but not all of you have gotten to see it, so I thought I would post a picture of it on here. I saw this car seat on another family’s blog and I searched for about 2 months for it, and then gave up and decided I would wait and find something else. Then one day when I was on Sears looking at the baby stuff guess what I stumbled across…

Pleasantly Surprised

Let me just start of by saying how happy I was to see some new commenters!! Thanks!

Now, one to my main topic; my 4 wheeled, blue, hunk of junk…aka, my car.

Earlier this week as I was driving home from work I hit a bump (not that it is possible to avoid all 15,000 of them, lol) and when I did I herd something in the back of my car clunk…oh great I thought!

I called our mechanic the next day, he of course gave me the worst case synario of what could be wrong and how much it would cost, at this point my ears are burning, my eyes are tearing and my head is spinning! To make a long story short I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED when we got the call to pick up my car! We ended up with the best case synario and instead of it costing around $600 it cost $125, YEAH! Good car, good car!
I am still anticipating purchasing a new vehicle which I was hoping would be early next year but it will probably be the end of next year or the beginning of 2009 because I want to have a nice new vehicle for when “Maggie” gets home.

We have been considering the Pontiac Vibe, if you have one of these or know anyone that owns one please leave me your thoughts in my comments. We haven’t even test driven one yet but we talked to someone in the parking lot at Wal-Mart that has one and he really seemed to like it. Ok, here's the story...One day we came out of Wal-Mart and I saw a nice red Vibe in the parking lot so I started peeking in the windows of the car and I got caught, so I had to tell him why I was looking in his car. I felt like an idiot but he was very nice and gave us his opinion of the car. Since talking to him we have been seriously thinking about this car but more information from Vibe owners would be great. Here is a picture for those of you who have not seen one.
How cute is this car?!?!?
