Retail Therapy ~ 2 Day Marathon!

I am so excited! My bags are packed, my credit card has no balance and I am ready to shop till’ I drop!!!

Tomorrow morning my Mom and I are off for two straight days of MAJOR shopping!!

We try to do two overnight shopping trips a year and this is our Christmas trip. I hope I can get the majority of my shopping done tomorrow and Friday so that I am not running around like a chicken with my head cut off come the 23rd of December.

I am taking my laptop with me so hopefully if I am not too tired I will post again tomorrow night to let you all know how our day was. Otherwise I will post on the weekend sometime … between putting up our tree and decorating it!

Fall Foto Flashback & Giving Thanks

A few weeks ago Larry and I went for a walk. The leaves were so nice and the day was beautiful so I took some fall photos, I made scrapbook pages with some of the pictures, here are two of them.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my blog visitors from the United States. I am thankful for all of you that come and leave encouraging, funny and supportive comments on my blog.

I hope you all had a wonderful day with your friends, family and lots of food!

I’m Thankful for You

Thanksgiving is the appointed time
for focusing on the good in our lives.
In each of our days,
we can find small blessings,
but too often we overlook them,
choosing instead to spend our time
paying attention to problems.
We give our energy
to those who cause us trouble
instead of those who bring peace.
Starting now,
let’s be on the lookout
for the bits of pleasure in each hour,
and appreciate the people who
bring love and light to everyone
who is blessed to know them.
You are one of those people.
On Thanksgiving,
I’m thankful for you.

Weekend Post-O-Ramma

So much has seemed to happen in such a short amount of time. I have so much to share from last weekend, it was crazy busy!

Last Friday a co-worker (Danny) and I headed to Bedford for some training for work. We made plans that before we went to our class Friday morning we would go out for breakfast. Well I have got to tell you that breakfast was so awesome! We went to Cora’s.
If you have never been here for breakfast or lunch, RUN! Don’t walk … RUN! The breakfast is fantastic! I really enjoyed the food. Half the menu items come with "a mountain of fresh fruit", and the fruit was indeed very fresh and beautifully presented. The prices are a bit steep to dine every day, but for special occasions it's a nice place for a really good breakfast or brunch. Our food was so pretty I couldn’t eat it without taking pictures, lol!

Let me know if you have gone there and what you thought of it in my comments.

So after our great breakfast and a morning of training we headed out for lunch and a stroll around the mall to pass the time. The following are pictures of Danny being funny in the middle of the mall, I am glad it wasn’t busy, lol!!

Last Saturday was our first snowstorm here; of course this was the weekend we chose to reschedule our girl’s night out. (Those of you that read my blog will remember that just the weekend before we had plans made but because of tropical storm Noel we had to cancel.) Well Donna and Lee Ann made it to my house but we ended up not going where we had planned but we did get out for the evening. Thanks for the fun evening, despite the storm, girls! Thanks to my chauffeur hubby for driving us in the snow. ;o)

Here is a picture of my new boots I wore when we went out. These boots are higher than I am used to wearing but being that I am only 5’ tall; it was nice to wear these and be able to look some people in the eye, lol!

Last Sunday was Lisa’s little girl, Kealey’s, 2nd birthday party so we headed to Liverpool to visit with them for a while. I can’t believe how big Kealey is getting. Oh they grow too fast!! She received lots of nice gifts and had and adorable cake with the Backyardigans on it. Here is a slideshow of the pictures from the birthday evening.

Remembrance Day - November 11th, 2007

Some of this post has been copied with permission from Sherri .

I wanted to share the story from her post with all of you.

For those of you not familiar with Terry Kelly, he is one of our fabulous local musicians.

A Timely Video for Remembrance Day:

On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a Shoppers Drug Mart store in Dartmouth , Nova Scotia . At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the store's PA asking customers who would still be of the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us. Terry was impressed with the store's leadership role in adopting the Legion's "two minutes of silence" initiative. He felt that the store's contribution of educating the public to the importance of remembering was commendable. When eleven o'clock arrived on that day, an announcement was again made asking for the "two minutes of silence" to commence. All customers, with the exception of a man who was accompanied by his young child, showed their respect. Terry's anger towards the father for trying to engage the store's clerk in conversation and for setting a bad example for his child was later channelled into a beautiful piece of work called, "A Pittance of Time". I think that you will find it to be a moving video and song.

Post Storm Update

Just dropping in quickly to let you all know that the storm has passed and we escaped with out damage at our house. We ended up being one of the lucky ones in NS and we kept our power all night. We have lots of leaves and broken branches in our yard but we feel very glad that is the worst of our damage. There are many others with a lot worse damage. I have a slideshow of pictures that will show you some of the harm the storm has caused around our area.

Batten Down The Hatches!

Today we are under 2 storm warnings here in Nova Scotia, a Wind Warning (DANGEROUS WINDS TONIGHT WITH GUSTS EXCEEDING 100 KM/H) & a Rainfall Warning (RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 50 TO 70 MILLIMETRES TONIGHT).

"DANGEROUS POST-TROPICAL STORM NOEL WILL APPROACH NOVA SCOTIA AND TRACK ACROSS THE BAY OF FUNDY TONIGHT.
The storm is heading north after cutting a swath through the Caribbean, where it left more than 100 people dead and caused tens of millions of dollars in damage.

Forecasters predict gusts of 120 km/h inland and 140 km/h along the coastlines of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island late Saturday from what is being called a post-tropical storm."

Right now it is raining & windy, but it is expected to get a lot worse tonight.

I was supposed to be having a girl’s night out with some co-workers but we have postponed it to another weekend so that everyone can stay home and be safe. Don't worry girls we will get together sometime soon!

I am thinking of all my blogger friends from NB, NS and PEI and hoping that they are all safe throught this storm.

Halloween Wrap-Up

Here are some pictures from our Halloween adventures. As you can see Riley and Mackenzie received lots of treats, I got some too ;o). I actually had a lady ask me if I was the girl she sees in the morning at the bus stop, lol!!! I guess I still have a few years of trick-or-treating left in me! You can't see them, but my jammie pants are flannels with Care Bears on them. They are so cute and I love to wear them in the winter. My costume was warm, comfortable and convenient for when I finally got home, lol!

The weather was perfect and we all had lots of fun.

Here is a picture of the ice-cream cake I got Larry for his birthday. Ohhhh it was so yummy!!

Here is our cat, Sneakers, enjoying the paper bag the cake came in, lol!
